My ex sees me as family

Hello all, I recently broke up with my girlfriend (like a week ago) due to the fact that we were in a long distance relationship and she was in uni so she had little time to skype, and it has become so complicated. At first my ex was really sad, and replied to my text petty quickly (i had not read about the 5 steps then), I know we both miss each other then. After I requested to go back together, I pleaded and begged and cried as I did so. After that she stopped replying to my texts and told me she sees me as family, rather than her bf, and requested that we take some time to calm down first. We cleared things up today when I apologized for my actions telling her my pleading and begging was immature. She told me to work hard and achieve decent grades, and admits that she values me very much, and hopes that in the future there will be time to talk about the beautiful memories we made. Our conversation is still going, should I stop now and initiate no contact, or should I finish the conversation first then initiate no contact? And after that if she doesn’t contact me should I make contact first? If I meet up how am I suppose to re attract a person who sees me as family? Are there any tips and tricks up you guys’ sleeves?

@marmarchow - How long were you bf/gf before she broke up with you? How far apart are you now? Long distant relationships are very difficult to maintain for sure. She lost romantic type feelings for you, but she cares about you and wants you to focus on school and get good grades. No contact is more for you to heal from the hurt and try to accept the breakup. And to contemplate the reasons she chose to break up with you and what part you had in it other than the distance. There is no trick or magic formula to get her to change her mind. She has requested time for both of you to calm down, so start NO CONTACT now. She might miss you, but that still doesn’t mean she wants to get back together and only time will tell. Try not to think ahead about a meeting or anything, just focus on you for now. After no contact you could send a message to ask how she’s doing and take if from there…
