I need some help understanding what happened. Some pretext: After 30 days of NC, I made contact (about 10 days ago). My ex has a new boyfriend I know about from social media, but since making contact she hasn’t mentioned him, and doesn’t know I know about him.
I was taking things slowly and getting great returns. She talked about how she missed me, would like to see me, how nice some of the memories we had were, etc.
Late last night, she called and left me a voicemail. Something had happened to her and she wanted emotional support, she asked me to call back. I went to sleep and texted her in the morning saying “I got your voicemail, let me know when a good time to call would be”. About an hour later I received a text saying “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have contacted you, I don’t think we should keep talking”. I replied “Ok, sorry things didn’t work out, wish you the best”.
My plan now is to wait a week or two, then contact her again. When we first made contact again she mentioned some stuff she found of mine at her place, and that she’d like to get lunch together. What I think I should do is this: NC for 7-14 days, followed by me stating I’d be in town for an appointment, and I could pick up my stuff then. Mention the lunch again.
This was so unexpected, but I think I responded in a productive way, and I think I can still turn this around. Has anyone experienced this before? A sudden change of attitude? What can it mean and am I proceeding correctly?
A small part of me wants her to double back before I contact her again. I’m just hurt and confused right now.
Thanks
