Did I start NC wrong? did I ruin chances?

Okay, so, I never asked for us to get back together after he ended it with me (it happened this wknd) but first of all. He said we were on a break but didn’t wanna define it but I had to ask if we were still together and he said no and said that we should break up all together. That really hurt. Idk if I messed that up all myself but any way.
I sent him two long texts, telling I’m ok with this and he’s a good person and told him I liked him for him etc.
Did that ruin anything?
Also I told him upfront I wouldn’t be contacting him for a while to get my head straight.
He said he was sorry I had to do that and I said it’s best for me and for him too I thought.
I said he could call me if he needed to.
Do I need to restart NC somehow?
Was it wrong I told him I wasn’t going to talk to him?
It’s been 2 days since I haven’t talked to him.
Should I maybe meet up with friends while he’s there so he sees me then start NC again without saying so?

You already told him you’re going to do no contact for awhile. So just continue no contact. Avoid seeing him in person too.
